Diego Riveros

Owner/Marketing Manager “Building boats, waves, and futures in the heart of the Mentawais.”

iego Riveros is the co-founder of Mentawai Surf Camp — builder, innovator, and storyteller behind the waves. Alongside his partner Lora Riska, he has turned a remote island dream into a self-sustaining family-run surf haven. A hands-on entrepreneur, Diego designs and builds the fiberglass boats that have replaced traditional dugout canoes, leading a movement toward sustainable, locally made vessels that protect Mentawai’s forests and empower its coastal communities. Between logistics, tech, and surf guiding, Diego is the bridge between the island and the world — equally at home behind a router command line, a fiberglass hull, or steering guests toward the best tide of the day.

“Surfer. Builder. Dreamer. Father. Living the Mentawai life.”

Driven by a deep respect for the Mentawai people and their environment, Diego leads eco-entrepreneurship initiatives through Mentawai Marine and local youth programs like PeiPei Boardriders. His projects create real opportunities for island families — training young locals in boat construction, guiding, and sustainable tourism.

To Diego, every board, boat, and broadcast is part of one mission: to preserve the Mentawai Islands’ culture and coastline through innovation, inclusion, and ocean stewardship.

At heart, Diego is a surfer, father, and storyteller. He shares his life on the island with Lora and their three children — Thariq, Sacha, and Zacky — who grew up chasing waves, building boats, and learning the rhythms of the ocean.

For him, Mentawai Surf Camp isn’t just a business — it’s a living expression of family, creativity, and the deep connection between people and the sea.
