Head Surf Guide “Mentawai born. Ocean raised. Teaching the next wave.”
hariq Riveros grew up in the surf, the eldest son of Diego Riveros and Lora Riska, and one of the youngest rising surfers in the Mentawai Islands. Known online as @surfwiththariq, he’s part of the next generation shaping the identity of Mentawai Surf Camp — both in and out of the water. Thariq divides his time between coaching guests, chasing waves with visiting pros, and mentoring local groms through the family’s youth initiative, PeiPei Boardriders.
A naturally gifted athlete with a calm, confident style, Thariq reads the ocean like someone who’s lived every day beside it — because he has.
His understanding of local tides, winds, and reef breaks makes him not only a guide but a teacher, showing guests how to find rhythm, confidence, and connection in the water.
Still in his teens, Thariq already represents the future of surfing in the Mentawais — a blend of local knowledge, humility, and world-class potential — continuing the family mission of sharing waves, culture, and community with surfers from all over the world.
